BOISE ID (November 21, 2013) – President Obama announced on Thursday, November 14 that the federal government will allow health plans that do not meet certain Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements to renew in 2014. The Idaho Department of Insurance is working with carriers in this ever-changing environment.
Health and Human Services is providing additional guidance to the states regarding the President’s announcement; however, the details on how health insurance companies would calculate rates for these plans are not entirely clear.
Governor Otter will return to Boise early next week and plans to meet with stakeholders. The state of Idaho will continue its analysis of the implications of extending policies to make an informed decision in early December that will be in the best interest of Idahoans.
