Insurance Department offers assistance
BOISE ID (August 19, 2013) – This summer’s devastating wildfires have burned and continue to threaten many homes in Idaho. The Idaho Department of Insurance can be a resource to homeowners who have experienced a loss due to the fires and have questions about where to turn.
“Our hearts go out to these people. We know what an emotional time this can be for them as they realize the extent of their loss,” says Department Director Bill Deal. “We can help homeowners contact their insurance agents or companies and assist them with questions they may have about the claims process.”
The Department’s Consumer Affairs Officers are trained professionals who are well-qualified to provide assistance to consumers in situations such as this.
The Department regularly encourages consumers to take an inventory of their belongings on an annual basis. The most helpful inventories will include photos and will be stored off-site. Inventory forms are available on the Department’s website, www.doi.idaho.gov. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners also offers a free app for cell phone users.
