Independent Review Organization Registration

The Idaho Health Carrier External Review Act requires Independent Review Organizations (IROs) to register with the Department of Insurance in order to be approved to conduct external reviews.

Independent Review Organization Licensing

In order to act as an IRO, the organization must be accredited by URAC, a nationally recognized private accrediting entity, and approved by the Idaho Department of Insurance. In order to become approved, the organization must submit an application to the Department. Notice of the application will be published on the Department's website for a period of 42 days to provide an opportunity for public comment.

Renewal of IRO Registration

IRO registration renews every two years from date of issue for a fee of $300. Please click here to renew by paper. At a later date renewing online will be available.

If the IRO does not renew prior to the expiration date, this license must be reinstated at double the renewal fee ($600) for up to one year. Please click here for the reinstatement form.
