Financial Requirements
- Producer/Adjuster/Surplus Lines/Limited Lines license: $80. Check or money order made payable to: Idaho Department of Insurance
- Adding lines to an existing license does not carry a fee. Please use the Add Lines Request form and send with current license.
Other Requirements
- Original test scores and fingerprint receipt from PearsonVue testing services. PearsonVue's website is www.pearsonvue.com ; telephone number is 888-204-6218, to schedule exams and fingerprints.
- NOTE: Letter of Clearance from former domicile state can be submitted in place of exam scores if moving to Idaho to become resident producer. You must relicense as a resident within 90 days of moving here and within 90 days of cancelling your former domicile state license. You will still need to submit fingerprint receipt from PearsonVue with your application.
- If there are problems with getting fingerprints done through PearsonVue , please contact this office (208-334-4250) and ask for help from producer licensing. Manual fingerprints require that you obtain the FD-258 card from licensing and take to your local State Police and, once printed, attach the card to the app, along with an extra $60 for the FBI background check. Fingerprint cards done manually are more costly and result in a slower return of FBI results, along with the possibility of rejected cards and possible redo's. We highly recommend getting fingerprinted electronically through PearsonVue to avoid these extra expenses and delays and we require it if you are within a 100 mile radius of a test center offering fingerprint services. Licenses for residents are not issued before the FBI report is returned.
- If you are requesting the Variable line on your initial license, please put your CRD # (FINRA Securities license number) on your application. You must have active registrations with FINRA firms before the department will issue this line of authority. You must also carry the Life line of authority.
- LIMITED LINES applications need to attach the signed attestation page from the Limited Lines Pre-licensing Manual on our website, in lieu of an exam score.
- SURPLUS LINES license please use the NAIC application and check SL, instead of P, on page 2. You must also carry a P&C license and the P&C license must have been in place for at least 3 years.
- ADJUSTER license: please use the NAIC application and write ADJUSTER across the top front of the application.
- PUBLIC ADJUSTER license: please use the NAIC application and write PUBLIC ADJUSTER across the top front of the application.
- Appointments/Registrations: (OPTIONAL with application) Use the PRODUCER APPOINTMENT (companies) or PRODUCER REGISTRATION (agencies) form to register a producer to an agency or appoint a producer to an insuring company. These forms must be provided by the agency or insuring company with authorized signature. There is no fee to register or appoint if accompanying a paper application. NOTE : Listing affiliations on the application will not create affiliations.
- Attach signed letter of explanation and appropriate court documents for any ‘yes' answers to background questions on page 3 of the application.
