Assistance with Medicare Claims

Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors and the Idaho Commission on Aging have formed an "Idaho Medicare Watch Partnership" in an effort to identify and reduce Medicare billing errors and possible fraudulent practices in beneficiary claims in Idaho.

The goal of this project is to increase public awareness of Medicare claims and billing discrepancies.

Keep in mind that:

  • Most providers are honest
  • Only 2-3% bill fraudulently
  • Most Medicare claims discrepancies are due to human error resulting in improper billing

What to look for:

  • Billing for services, supplies, or equipment that were not provided
  • Charges for tests you do not recall taking
  • Providers who ask for your Medicare number in exchange for "free" services
  • Duplicate payments for the same service
  • Dates of services that differ from the dates you actually received services
  • Offering Medicare drug plan for a one-time fee or any time outside open enrollment

What to do:

  • Review your Medicare statement
  • Ask questions
  • Call the numbers below for assistance
