This week's volunteer spotlight shines on Gerald Thomas Kurdy who is involved with the SHIBA program as Counselor.
Tom Kurdy is one of my very dedicated volunteers in North Central Idaho. He is very knowledgeable on the computer and has, in addition to his SHIBA work, trained seniors on how to use the computer. This knowledge of the computer has given him an advantage when it comes to Medicare counseling as so much information is on the internet.
Tom and his wife have both been volunteering for SHIBA for the last two years. He has a degree in education and is a great problem solver when it comes to helping Medicare beneficiaries.
Recently, Tom helped a Medicare beneficiary and her husband who is moving to Moscow from California. He made several phone calls to the beneficiary in order to get them the information they needed to make the necessary changes in their coverage.
Tom is very patient with our beneficiaries, taking the time to work with them and answer all their questions. Thank you Tom for all that you do!
Watch this space for monthly changes to our Volunteer in the Spotlight. If you would like to nominate someone to be a volunteer in the spotlight, submit your nomination to your volunteer coordinator, giving the name of the volunteer and why you think he or she deserves to be in the spotlight.
