This week's volunteer spotlight shines on Linda Lou Silene who is involved with the SHIBA program as counselor.
Linda worked in the Boise SHIBA office for two years as our office assistant. During that time she showed much compassion for the beneficiaries that contacted our office and a willingness to learn. When she retired, she decided to become a volunteer counselor in her community of Eagle. Linda counsels out of the Eagle Senior & Community Center.
Linda helped her Volunteer Services Coordinator, Karen Clark, establish the computer counseling site at the Eagle Senior Center. She has been a counselor since 2008 and also assists beneficaries at her senior housing community where she invites Karen to speak during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period.
Because of Linda, the community of Eagle can get personal counseling and assistance in their own community.
She also volunteers with the prison ministry.
Watch this space for monthly changes to our Volunteer in the Spotlight. If you would like to nominate someone to be a volunteer in the spotlight, submit your nomination to your volunteer coordinator, giving the name of the volunteer and why you think he or she deserves to be in the spotlight.
