This week's volunteer spotlight shines on Robby L Aycock who is involved with the SHIBA program as Outreach, SMP.
Robby is a student at Northwest Nazarene University, working on a Master's Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in gerontology. His interest in working with older people led him to volunteer with SHIBA. Robby is also working as an intern at St. Luke's Medical Center in Boise.
Robby started with SHIBA just before the beginning of the Annual Enrollment Period, so his counselor training was pushed back. Even so, Robby was a great help during the AEP making sure that enrollment sites were set up, putting out signs to help people find the site, and greeting beneficiaries while the counselors were with other beneficiaries. Robby has also assisted with some SMP projects and will continue to serve as an outreach volunteer while he goes through training to become a counseling volunteer.
Robby's help with the AEP was most valuable. Counselors knew that things would go smoothly because he checked computers, put up signs and was available to help as needed.
Watch this space for monthly changes to our Volunteer in the Spotlight. If you would like to nominate someone to be a volunteer in the spotlight, submit your nomination to your volunteer coordinator, giving the name of the volunteer and why you think he or she deserves to be in the spotlight.
